Beaded Rosebuds - Eyeglass Case or Checkbook CoverBeaded Rosebuds - Eyeglass Case or Checkbook Cover

Technique: Needlepoint and Beading
Skill Level: All
Item No.: SP-CW-BR
Price: $ 12.50

In spite of the computer age and internet banking, some of us still persist in carrying around a checkbook. A nice little gift is a personalized checkbook cover. Also, most of us carry around glasses that aren?t firmly planted on our noses all the time, like sun glasses. They need to be kept safe in a case. So? Stitch up a companion piece to the checkbook cover and give the two as a set! Or, if your friend is too computer-literate or plastic-adept for antique payment methods and a checkbook cover is completely out of the question, give her/him the eyeglass case alone. I know that the rosebud and curly alphabet may not be suitable for a manly man, so consider taking this idea and modifying it with a more suitable motif and alphabet style. You will find enough help in the instructions to maybe give you what you need to plunge in and design something uniquely yours. Note: this project is finished from the outside ? no struggling to turn it inside out!

Partial materials list (materials not included in packet): 12-count canvas, #3 pearle cotton, beads, ultrasuede.

The packet includes a supplies list, pattern chart, charts for all 26 letters of the alphabet, full instructions to complete the eyeglass case and/or the checkbook cover (including finishing instructions).

Lacy Treasure BoxLacy Treasure Box

Technique: Counted Work and Beading
Skill Level: All
Item No.: SP-CW-LT
Price: $ 25.00

One of my personal delights is to create lace or lace-like designs. Usually some lace-making technique like tatting or bobbin lace can satisfy the urge but I like the challenge of doing it with a needle and thread as in Reticello, Hardanger, needlelace or pulled canvas work. But, for a change, I decided to see if I could create a lacy look without making a lot of holes in the fabric. Inspired by the desire to create a worthy setting for a favorite saying and to make a gift using one of the Sudberry House boxes, here is the result. The point of this design is to create a light, lacy look. The trick is using different weights of thread. This creates a shaded effect that gives the illusion of lace without making holes in the fabric.

This little project is simple and quick to stitch. There are basically only three stitching techniques: cross stitch, straight stitch that, in certain parts of the design, are done as backstitches or running stitch, and attaching beads.

The booklet includes a supplies list, charts for both the outside and inside of the box lid, and full instructions to complete the project.

This project is meant to work with Sudberry House?s Oak Box (5 ?? x 5 ?? design area) or the Walnut Box (5? x 5? design area). To order a box from Sudberry House, click here: www.sudberry.com
